Getting to Lampeter / Comment venir?

Lampeter is situated in Southwest Wales, about 4 hours 30 minutes by road from London or Manchester (see below for map). The nearest international airports are Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham and Heathrow. From most airports you can travel by train or coach, for example direct by coach from Gatwick/Heathrow to Cardiff or Swansea, and from there to Carmarthen and Lampeter (or from Birmingham Airport direct by train to Aberystwyth). The railway line to Lampeter was unfortunately closed in the 1960s: the nearest railway station is Carmarthen (or Aberystwyth if you come from Birmingham, the Midlands or the North) from where you can get a bus or taxi to the Lampeter campus. There are also direct bus/coach links from Cardiff, Swansea and London to Lampeter. The University is situated in the centre of Lampeter on the A485 towards Aberaeon/Tregaron (College Street, Station Terrace).

Parking: If you come by car, you can park for free on the main car park on the university campus.

Accommodation. For speakers of the FERCAN workshop and the Sacred Landscapes conference (2014), we organise accommodation on the university campus in Lampeter.
If you prefer a more luxurious environment, please click here for hotels and guesthouses in Lampeter. For non-speakers, we can book accommodation for you in a student hall of residence on the university campus for 40 pounds per night.

The conference will take place in the Founders’ Library in the old building of the university from 1822 (sorry, not accessible by wheelchair; please contact us well in advance so that we can make arrangements): click here for a map of the Lampeter campus (main locations: no. 17-Founders’ Library & Old College, 32-Hall of Residence, 7-Archaeology & Classics Departments, 2-Tucker Lecture Theatre, 43-refectory & café, 39-bar, 22-library with rare manuscripts)
